Your Team Mirrors Your Nervous System
Leadership presence isn’t personality. It’s a regulated state you can build, and a co-regulated climate you create.
A low-pressure conversation to find your next step.
Your nervous system drives relationships and outcomes
Personal Awareness:
What trigger repeatedly hijacks you?
Personal Regulation:
What helps you return to baseline fast enough to choose your response?
Social Awareness:
Who goes silent when the room gets tense, and what’s the signal that safety just dropped?
Social Regulation:
How do you invite disagreement without escalating the room’s nervous system?
Regulate your nervous system to shape the environment you lead.
Your nervous system does not need force, it needs contact
Try this 15-minute reset to move from overwhelm to clear next steps
Step 1: Awareness: Map your patterns
• Do a 60-second self-scan 3×/day: feelings (3 words), body sensation, need.
• Keep a 5-day “Situation → Trigger → Story → Outcome” mini-log.
Outcome: Notice top 3 patterns + Create early-warning signals.
Bonus: Track your positivity ratio.
Step 2: Alchemy: Install your regulation tools
Pick 2 small-tools that work for you:
• 90-second breath (inhale 4, exhale 6)
• Name it to tame it” (label emotions)
• 5-4-3-2-1 grounding
• If-Then plan: “If I feel X, then I will Y.”
Outcome: Create a one-page “When X, then I do Y” plan.
Step 3: Action: Response under real pressure
• Choose 2 recurring stress moments (e.g., Status updates, accountability email).
• Go through the loop: Pause & breathe → Plan → Play → Reflect (2 mins).
Outcome: Aim for faster recovery time & steadier responses you can measure.
A regulated leader makes it easier for others to work.
A dysregulated leader makes it harder for others to think.
